Arctic Fox (Pesets): Survivor of the Frozen Tundra

The Arctic fox, or pesets, is a small yet resilient mammal perfectly adapted to the frigid conditions of the Arctic tundra. Its thick, white winter coat provides insulation and camouflage against the snow, while the summer coat turns brown or gray, blending with the rocky terrain. Arctic foxes are opportunistic feeders, surviving on a diet of small mammals, birds, fish, and even carrion.

One of the most remarkable adaptations of the Arctic fox is its ability to survive extreme temperatures as low as -50°C. They create extensive dens that offer shelter from the elements and predators. Despite their adaptability, climate change and competition with larger predators like red foxes threaten their populations. Protecting the Arctic fox requires addressing global warming and preserving their icy habitat.
